“You a partier, really?” Rachel can’t help but grin at the images it gave her. She liked learning about him. She liked how easy he made it to listen and to converse with him. She liked that they were open with one another, that they were comfortable doing this. Just talking with him made her happy and it proved to her that this was right. If they could be content just talking and being with one another then it had to mean something. “Do you ever miss it? Lying awake at night do you think about places you’d rather be outside of Lima?” She knew she did. She thought of New York, she thought of Broadway. She was just ready to get out and start her life. A life she hoped that would be spent with him. “If you could go anywhere and stay there. No consequences or anything, where would you go?” She wonders if they both want the same place. She knew he loved performing and wanted that. She knew he was good and wondered if he still dreamed of New York the same way that she did. She knew that he enjoyed teaching, it was very obvious by this trip. But did he want performing more?

“Am I really that predictable?” Rachel blushes, concentrating on her food.  “I think everything that seemed really interesting is already planned out. I guess if I like anything in particular when we see it, we could go back when we go off on our own.” She shrugs her shoulders slightly, squeezing his hand. “I just want to go with the flow and enjoy this time with you. Is there anywhere you want to go? You know more about this place than I do.” They finish their food and pay before walking out of the restaurant. “I’m excited.” Rachel says, taking hold of his hand. They would explore the plaza and it would be perfect.

Will nods, laughing at her question. “Yes, I did have some party days. I was half way around the world, away from Terri, so I was actually able to let loose,” he says with a smile. “I think I’ve outgrown that though. Now I prefer a quiet walk and dinner, with a night in,” he tells her. What he just said makes him think about how she hasn’t even reached the point where she would be able to go out and party. He wonders what will happen when she does. She should have that freedom, the time to go out with friends and party the night away. She didn’t need someone holding her back like Terri did with him. He shakes his head. That’s not something to think about now and he didn’t want to. He smiles at her next question. “I do miss it, of course. I wanted to get out of Lima. I never thought I’d stay but as I got older, it seemed less likely that I could leave,” he tells her honestly. “If I could go anywhere? I want to be wherever you are. Wherever you go, I want to follow.” He looks her in the eyes, and it’s clear that it’s all he wants.

“No, you’re not predictable, I just know you that well,” he corrects lightly. He nods listed as she talks about what she wants to do. Her plan makes perfect sense. This is going to be the best trip, and he knows that it’s going to be really good for them. “We’re doing everything I want, pretty much. I figured the same that they things I want to share with you can be done during the free time. He pays and soon they are walking towards the plaza. He doesn’t see any of the students around and it gives him some security. They walk through some of the shows, showcasing local crafts and goods. “Do you see anything you like?” he asks as they are looking through an antique shop. There are so many different places in the plaza and the music from the street show in the center of the square can be heard. It’s nice to just relax and enjoy the city and its culture with the one you love.

Rachel nods her head slowly as she listens to him, not thinking about herself, but feeling bad that the only way he could do something for himself at that time, was to be miles and miles away. She smiles though as he tells her what he enjoys now and she thinks it sounds perfect.  “I like the sound of all of that.” She says softly, watching him quietly, wondering what was on his mind. She hadn’t meant to bring anything negative up for him. She just wanted to know more about him. She liked learning new things.  Rachel grabs at his hand and squeezes it gently as he tells her he would be happy going wherever she did. It makes her feel so much and she knows he means it. She thinks later on she’ll ask for him to name a place. The place he dreamed to be. She thinks she has an idea of where it would be. She didn’t want to hold him back in the same way she knew he didn’t want to do for her.

She believes him fully when he says he just knows her. It was true, he knew her more than anyone. They’re soon walking through the plaza. She knows he is a bit cautious but he seems to relax. Rachel is just happy to be spending time with him in such a beautiful place. She likes everything she is seeing and listening too and can see herself getting used to this. “Everything is so beautiful.” She says to his question. “How did you leave this place?” She asks softly a playful smile on her face.

Exploring || Will and Rachel

Rachel pouts quietly when he lets go of her hand. Her eyes moving around to see if one of her peers were around, but she sighs a breath of relief when he pulls her into his side. The closeness was great and needed. She was happy they could have it out in the open like this. She didn’t mind keeping things private, she knew that they had to, but it was still nice. They could be a real couple without having to hide. She knew this trip would be amazing and a lot of it had to do with him. She smiles, listening to him talk about how he was here for a semester. Rachel liked learning new things about him. She liked that they still had things to learn and discover. “Did you stay by yourself or did you stay with a host family?” She didn’t really know how things like that worked and assumes it could have gone either way. “I can’t wait to enjoy it with you.” She leans up, kissing his cheek, before he is leading her inside.

They are seated and they order drinks before Will starts talking again. She could talk to him for hours and listen to him for longer. There was something in the way he spoke and the way he carried himself. “All of that sounds perfect. I can’t way to spend this time with you and to explore the city. It’s so beautiful.” Rachel smiles, shaking her head at him. “You don’t have to buy me anything. Being here with you is special enough. It’s all I need. I love you so much, you know.” She takes his hand, lacing their fingers. “You make me so happy.” The waiter comes back to take their orders and after he leaves again, they go back to talking. Rachel knows that by the end of the trip, she won’t want to leave. Maybe in the future they could come back and visit.

“I actually stayed at the university I was studying at. They had housing for international students, which was a lot of fun. I liked the independence it gave. I may have done a little too much partying,” he confesses with a smile. “But even though I went out and enjoyed the discotecas at night, I also liked to go out and experience the city during the days. I really liked immersing myself in the culture and being part of the city.” He loves opening up with her, sharing his life and experiences with her. He loves when she does the same. It makes him think about the future and how now they will be creating those experiences together. He doesn’t want to do that with anyone else.

He smiles across the table at her as she talks about how she likes it here and being with him. She says he doesn’t need to buy her anything, and he doesn’t argue because he knows that he will find her something perfect before this trip is over. He wants to do that for her; buy her something to remember this time together by. He squeezes her hand as she laces their fingers together. “You make me happy too. I don’t want you to ever doubt that.” The waiter takes their order and they continue their conversation. He comes back with their food and they start eating, the food just as good as Will remembers it to be. “So, knowing you, you’ve done some research. Is there anything you really want to do while we are over here? Anything you want to experience or eat? They are here on a school trip, but he wants to make sure she gets everything she wants from this trip. Will doesn’t even realize that the way he is treating this trip is dangerous. He’s just living in the moment with her.

“You a partier, really?” Rachel can’t help but grin at the images it gave her. She liked learning about him. She liked how easy he made it to listen and to converse with him. Exploring || Will and Rachel

Rachel feels like everything from here on out would go well. He was smiling and it made her smile wider. He wasn’t her teacher here, or her acquaintance, he was her boyfriend, the love of her life, and it was okay to be open about what they were here, for the most part. The feeling only heightens when he takes her hand and she laces their fingers, nearly bouncing on her toes, because she was so happy and excited to have this alone time with him in such a beautiful face. There weren’t words to explain what she feeling but they were all optimistic and positive thoughts. “I’m a little hungry but if you aren’t we can wait a while to eat and just explore everything.” She can’t stop smiling and she laughs softly as she listens to him.

“That sounds great actually. We can have the rest of the time to look around and we won’t feel rushed to get done everything, so we can eat.” Rachel refuses to let go of his hand and pulls him just a little bit closer. “You’ve been here before, right? You can show me everything you loved and I can love it too. We can make lots of memories and look back on them later. It’s going to be perfect. It already is, because I’m here with you.” Rachel feels silly but she can’t help it. She’s so happy and that won’t go away, because everything was going to be great. She wouldn’t let anything go wrong.

“Let’s do that then,” he says with a bright smile. He wants her closer, so he drops her hand - with some difficulty - and wraps it around her shoulder, pulling her close into his side. He can do that here. He doesn’t have to worry. He’s leading them away from the center and he knows the other students will stay in that area. It’s where a lot of shops and restaurants are, but Will is taking them away from that, so that they can be them. “I have been here. I studied in Madrid for a semester in college. So Madrid was my home base and I traveled around the country whenever I had time, but this city was my home. “There is a really great restaurant right around the corner,” he tells her. “It’s out of the way, but it’s family-owned, as are most of the restaurants here. “I think you’ll really like it.”

They arrive at the restaurant and a seated. They order sangrias and wait for the waiter to leave before Will continues talking. “After this we can go see a couple of things that we won’t see with the group and do some shopping. I want to buy you something special,” he tells her. “Anything you want.”

Exploring || Will and Rachel

Rachel woke up the next morning, disappointed with the fact that Will wasn’t beside her and that she wasn’t wrapped up in his arms. It wasn’t like she had fallen asleep that way, but she’d missed him and to have him just a few rooms away, but not be able to be with him, just kind of reminded her of how they would seem to other people. She understood at some level where people were coming from, but they loved each other and it wasn’t inappropriate in the sense that they always said student/teacher relationships were. They were different, stronger, and it was more than just the physical aspect. They talked and held hands and just enjoyed one another’s company. They actually saw themselves going somewhere. They saw their future selves and to Rachel that meant a lot. She just wished they didn’t have to hide and that others would understand. So far, his father was the only one who knew and supported them.

After taking a minute to completely wake up, she goes to shower and change into something appropriate for the day. She thinks back to the things Will had shown her on the itinerary and she smiles. Rachel was really excited for this trip. It was an amazing place and they would all experience and learn new things and spending this time with Will would be an added bonus. She was relieved that they were okay, so they could even spend time together, as a couple, where no one would know who they are. It didn’t stop them from having to be careful, but it was still a step up from what they had to do at home.

She shares brief conversation with the girl she shared rooms with. She was nice but not someone Rachel could see herself spending time with. Mainly because they were very different and not many people wanted to be her friend, not for the right reasons at least. Rachel shakes the thought away as she notices the time. They had to meet in the lobby to start their day. No one was really hungry and it’s decided that they will go tour the Royal Palace, the next day they would be visiting the Reina Sofia Museum which was right next door to the hotel they were staying in.

Everyone enjoys the tour and the next few stops they make, but it’s obvious they are most excited to split up and go on their own. Rachel was excited for that too, because she’d get to spend time with Will and explore things further. Will gives strict instructions and the place they could meet up again, later in the day. As everyone leaves to do their own thing Rachel looks up at Will and smiles brightly. “It’s so beautiful here. It’s amazing.”

Will wakes up with a smile on his face. After being with Rachel last night, things felt so much better. He wishes that she was in his arms but he’s just glad that they were okay again. He had never felt so heartbroken when they weren’t together. He hadn’t felt like that when his marriage fell apart or when Emma started dating Carl. He was never so in love with someone before and that’s what made this relationship okay to him. She may be his student, but his love for her was real and deep. After laying in bad a few minutes more, Will is up and showering, getting ready for their first full day in Spain. He’s excited about all of it and glad to be experiencing it with Rachel.

He gathers everyone together and the climb into the bus to travel across town to the Royal Palace. They take the tour, going through the public rooms that make up most of the second floor of the royal family’s home. He watches his students, all very interested in the art and decorations and history of the palace and the family. After, they walk from the palace to the Plaza Mayor, a large town square, full of restaurants and shops and public performances. He tells the group that they should be back in three hours in that very corner of the Plaza, but that they are free to walk around the Plaza or the city center.

The group disperses and he is left with Rachel. He smiles at her as she returns it. He’s glad to hear that she likes it. “It is beautiful. It’s even better with you here.” He looks around and sees that the rest of the group is gone, off on their own and he’s completely alone with his girlfriend. He reaches out and takes her hand in his. “Are you hungry?” he asks her as he leads her out of the Plaza and away from where most of his students will be as they walk down a side street. “We could get something to eat, and then walk around some of the shops or explore the Plaza. We’ll do whatever you want to do.”

Rachel feels like everything from here on out would go well. He was smiling and it made her smile wider. He wasn’t her teacher here, or her acquaintance, he was her boyfriend, the love of her life, and it was okay to be open about what they were here, for the most part. Sneaking In.

Hearing Will tell her that makes her smile even brighter. If she could be that person for him, then she was happy. It’s all that she wanted. It was obvious that they both wanted each other and would move on from this and be happier than they were to begin with. For a moment she is lost in thought, wondering if they were extremely happy before, but it isn’t time to dwell and she continues to smile. Nothing was going to ruin this for her, for them. They were together again in a place where nobody knew them. They could fix and be together, and nothing else had to matter.

She knows his words are true. He’s always been honest with her, even when she didn’t want him to be. It’s what makes them work. They push each other in the good ways, but are there for one another when it matters. Rachel’s hands are rubbing up and down his back as his mouth is on hers, and at the sudden movement she pulls away, only to watch him pull his shirt off. There kissing again, but only for a moment as he pulls away. Her cheeks turn red at his words and she feels the tears prick at her eyes. All of this was overwhelming. She loved him and missed him and here she was with him again. Nothing would ruin this moment, it was everything she wanted and needed, and she could tell he felt the same way. “I don’t either.” She whispers. “I’m never going to let you go unless I stop making you happy. I hope that never happens.” He doesn’t lean in to kiss her the way she’d anticipated, instead his lips are ghosting over her neck, teeth grazing slightly, and she lets out a soft moan. Her fingers pressing into his back slightly trying to pull him closer, “Will.” She finally manages out. “Please.” She didn’t want to wait anymore, she needed him and wanted to love him the way he deserved.

Will smiles into her skin as she says his name, as she pleads with him to make love to her. They take their time. It had been so long and they both wanted to fully reconnect with each other. He kissed every inch of skin as he undressed her slowly, letting her return the action. It’s passionate and everything he loves about being with her. He doesn’t think it’s ever been like this with anyone. It’s never felt more right. They take their time and when each falls over the edge, they are struggling to catch their breath, limbs tangled together and arms around each other.

Will doesn’t let go of her as he rolls off of her, pulling her to him. He kisses the top of her head as the rest together. “I love you so much,” he says so softly. He doesn’t want to let her go, but he knows that she can’t stay the night here. It would be too suspicious if she didn’t go back to her room. “You’re going to have to leave soon,” he tells her, bringing them back to reality. “I wish I could hold you all night, but you know we can’t right now.”

It’s everything Rachel hoped and knew it would be. Being with him felt amazing every single time, but it felt so much more needy and powerful, having been apart for so long. She knows she’ll never do something to mess what they have up. He’s perfect and they are perfect together, but they can be their own people without trying to change each other into something they are not. She was better with him, but she was still able to be her without being afraid. She feels whole for the first time since they’ve been apart and she’s so glad they are okay again. It hurt knowing she’d been the cause of it, but it wasn’t time to think about it. There was no reason too. They were good and they were together in everyway they needed to be. She’s still in his arms as they come down, it isn’t long before he is pulling away, only to pull her that much closer.

“I love you too.” She says softly, kissing his bare shoulder. It isn’t long though, before he brings her back. They couldn’t stay like this. They were away from everyone that knew them, but she would have to leave and the thought of being away from him is almost enough to bring her to tears but she just nods. They were going to be okay, even if she had to leave. She had just missed him so much and missed the comfort and the feel of being in his arms, she just missed being with him in general.

They spend a while longer talking about what they were going to be doing for the next few days, their arms wrapped tightly around one another. Eventually, she got up, getting back into her clothes, only to wrap him in a hug, refusing to let go until she was ready. With one last kiss to his lips and a hug, she leaves carefully. Going back to her room and into her bed, thinking about everything that had happened and what would happen. She felt content but missed him already. She thought about texting him, but knew he needed rest, and with him on her mind, she fell asleep too.

Rachel smiles brightly, not being able to contain the excitement she feels. It’s there for a lot of different reasons. She was in a new place and she knew the more she was able to explore and see of it, the more she’d fall in love with it. She had Will back and she could be close to him and love him again, and she had no doubts that this time it would work out the way it should, the way they have both wanted it too and deserved it too. She’s only half listening to the television, while she lets herself be taken over by the sound of his voice, his breathing, and the soft sound of his heartbeat. This is what she’s missed, just being surrounded by him, being wrapped in his arms, the little moments were what meant the most to her. “You make me so happy and I hope I make you happy too, you deserve that, you deserve everything you could ever want.” It’s overwhelming to think that maybe it is her.

He’s kissing her soft at first and then his mouth is lingering, and he’s deepening it without warning. She doesn’t have time to wrap her arms around him, before his body is hovering over hers, and that’s when she lets her hands rest on his back, and her lips move against his, kissing him fully. She’d missed all of this too, and it’s nice to remember the feel of his body so close, the feel of his breath. They’d been away from one another for so long, and she just wanted the connection, the reassurance that she thinks this will provide. “I need you.” She whispers as she pulls her mouth away from his just for a moment, “And I’ve missed you,” her hands make their way under his shirt, running over his chest and down his sides.

Will smiles at her words, the confirmation that he makes he happy. It’s clear that she is. He doesn’t think he’s seen her stop smiling since the plane and that is all he wants for her is to be happy. “You do make me happy. And you are everything I could ever want,” he confirms before kissing her deeply. It’s not long before he has her underneath him. He feels her hands on her back and he sighs into her mouth. This is what he needs. He needs her. She pulls away and he looks down at her as she speaks.

“I missed you too. And I always need you,” he tells her, feeling her hands under his shirt, on his bare skin. He sits up slightly and pulls off his shirt. He captures her lips again before pulling back. “Do you know how much I love you?” he asks, softly. “I don’t ever want to live without you again,” he tells her as he leans down, burying his face in her neck. His lips move along her skin, his teeth grazing lightly.

Hearing Will tell her that makes her smile even brighter. If she could be that person for him, then she was happy. It’s all that she wanted. It was obvious that they both wanted each other and would move on from this and be happier than they were to begin with. Things could be great, but with him they were perfect, no matter what. “I haven’t seen you in a whole hour, that’s a long time.” She teases letting herself get lost in the kiss, her hands pressing into his back as she pulled him closer. She’d missed this, missed him, and she can’t wait to just be in his arms, enveloped by his sent. It isn’t long before he is pulling her over to the bed, pulling away, and lying down. Rachel smiles, getting beside him and wrapping her arms around his waist, leaning up to kiss him again, because she needed the contact and the feel of him so close, she knew that nothing was going to go wrong this time. “Of course. I’ve missed this so much.”

“I love you,” she mumbles as she pulls away, cupping his cheek. “And it’s absolutely beautiful here. You should have warned me. Everyone is so excited.” She sighs contently, eyes not leaving his as she just let herself be in the moment, not letting any other outside thoughts disrupt her. “We’re okay.” She says after a moment, “and I’m so happy.”

“I’m really glad you like it. And as much as I love the city, you haven’t seen anything yet. It’s only going to get better,” he says squeezing her close. The Spanish news is playing quietly in the background as they stare at each other silently. He thinks she’s looking for something but he’s not sure what. He’s missed being by her side and having her in his arms. He smiles as she speaks, affirming that they are okay. “We are okay,” he agrees, kissing her softly. “I’m glad I can make you happy. That’s all I want, for you to be happy.” He kisses her again, this time lingering. No one was around and he needed to connect with her again.

After a moment, he deepens the kiss, pulling her even closer and rolling them so that he is on top of her. He places he weight on her gently, re-familiarizing himself with the way she feels. He’s missed this so much. It felt like a part of him was missing when he wasn’t with her, when they weren’t speaking. She was his other half. There was no way around that.

They arrived at the hotel and even the small part of the city Rachel had seen amazed her, and she really couldn’t wait to see more of it. Their first trip was a walk to a restaurant and although they wouldn’t be seeing too much, it would satisfy her need until the next day when more activities would be taking place. Will had let her look at the agenda and she can’t remember a time she’s been more excited. Rachel had been to a lot of places because of her fathers’ work, but nothing as beautiful as Spain, and spending it with Will would be even better, even if all of their time couldn’t be spent as a couple. They would at least have some. Rachel unpacks her things, humming to herself quietly, over the moon that things between her and Will had worked themselves out. She really feels confident in what they have and what will come from their relationship, and she can’t wait to witness and be a part of it.

At the appointed time everyone meets in the lobby and walks to the restaurant, admiring the few sights along the way, and even talking some Spanish, it was the real point of the trip, to use what you’ve learned in class in real life situations. She thinks everyone is really smart and dedicated to the language, and can see how proud Will is. It makes her happy for him. Everyone was really making an effort though they were tired, the time change was making a huge difference, and even she felt it. She hadn’t slept on the plane, not wanting to miss anything and having things to keep herself busy. She also didn’t want to mess her sleep schedule up.

Everyone enjoys dinner and they all go back to the hotel, going back to their rooms. Rachel shuts the door behind her, sighing happily, a little nervous that someone would see her going into his room. She didn’t want to miss this opportunity though, she’d missed him more than anything and being in his arms was her favorite place to be.  Rachel takes a shower, changes into something more comfortable, and unpacks the things she didn’t have time to do before. When everything is in its proper place, she  grabs her room key, before leaving her room and making her way through the halls quietly, finding Will’s room only moments later. Rachel doesn’t want to be too loud, so she knocks softly before walking in, hoping it wasn’t a bad time. She can’t help but smile, knowing that no one had seen her go in. “Hi!” She says with a grin, excited to just be around him again, even before they’d broken up, or whatever you want to call it, their time had been spent mostly apart. “I missed you.” She says softer than before.

Once they arrive in their hotel in Madrid, Will has them get settled in the room with a designated time to meet in the lobby. Will spends the time, getting out some clothes for the couple of days they will be in Madrid. He feels so much better now that he and Rachel are back on the right course. It’s soon time to meet the group in the lobby and he walks down slightly before to meet up with their tour guide for the week. When the group gets down there, he introduces them to Javier, who will be taking them to their restaurant. Along the way both Will and Javier point out things and talk to the group about the city and the culture. Dinner is great, the students put their Spanish into use without prompting and Will is proud of them for really immersing themselves in the city and language.

They get back to the hotel and with a light warning not to stay up too late, Will retires to his room. He’s anxious, knowing Rachel was going to try and get away from the group and her roommate to visit. He really wants to see her but doesn’t want her to get caught or put into the position where she will have to come up with an excuse. He gets into his pajama pants and a white t-shirt. He relaxes on the bed, turning on the TV and settling on the Spanish news. He smiles as he hears a soft knock, hoping it’s her. He’s about to get up when she lets herself in. He smiles wider over at her, getting off the bed and walking over to her. “Hi,” he says quietly, wrapping her in his arms tightly, holding her close. “I missed you too,” he tells her. He pulls back slightly, and kisses her deeply, pulling her with him to the bed. He breaks away to lay down on the bed, holding his arms out to her. “Come lay with me?” he asks her. “What do you think of the city so far?”

Rachel can’t help but feel even better when his arms go around her. It always felt like that when she was near him.
